We are really big on preventive maintenance around here. The keyword here is Preventative. Cars and trucks are living breathing things-we even give them names, tell them our secrets and bond with them. And just like other living things, they break down, wear out and just need a little love sometimes.

No make or model (or driver) is immune to issues.

Preventative Maintenance, on ourselves and our vehicles, is so often over-looked and forgotten, however plays a HUGE part in reducing, minimizing and in many cases actually preventing  very costly issues and repairs.

Give us a call and we can help you with a little therapy

- for your vehicle that is.

The following simple and inexpensive preventive checks will greatly extend the life of the vehicle, ensure safer operation and even benefit the environment. Always consult your owner's manual for individual service schedules because maintenance requirements vary by manufacturer.

  • A good rule of thumb is to have the oil and filter changed regularly

    •  Every 3,000 to 6,000 miles.

  • Fluids play a large role in the safety and performance of the vehicle and levels should be checked regularly:

    •  including brake, power steering, transmission/transaxle, windshield washer solvent and antifreeze.

  • Under-inflated tires can result in a loss of fuel efficiency and may cause safety issues. This is the least expensive form of preventive and safety maintenance.

    • Tires should be checked once a month or any time the tire pressure monitoring sensor indicator is on.

  • A fouled spark plug or plugged/restricted fuel injector can reduce fuel efficiency by as much as 30 percent.

    • Spark plugs and fuel injector should be inspected every 30,000 miles.

  • Have the chassis lubricated frequently extends the life of the moving components of the vehicle's suspension system.

    • Factory suspension should be checked annually or if any unusual noise or pulling occurs. â€‹

    • After-market suspension or Lifts should be inspected before and after any off-road activity and as often as every 6 months.

  • Check battery cables and posts for corrosion and clean them as needed.

    • Battery cables should be checked at every oil change and seasonally.

  • Have the lighting system checked frequently, including headlights, turn signals, and brake and taillights.

    • These should be checked before any long road trips to ensure safety while driving. If your turn signal is blinking rapidly it most often indicates that you have a bulb out- a simple and inexpensive fix that could save you $$ on a ticket.

  • Check windshield washer blades for cracks, tears and windshield contact.

    • Replace them at least once a year, or sooner if streaking begins.

  • Worn belts will affect the engine performance and can leave you unexpectedly stranded. Look for cracks and missing sections or segments.

    • Inspect engine belts regularly- typically at every other oil change.

  • The air filtration system ensures that the vehicle is performing at its peak condition, and can effect gas mileage dramatically.

    • The air filter should be checked every other oil change for clogging or damage.
